Prof Andrei Yakovlev

Prof. Andrei Yakovlev is a tenured Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and the School of Public Administration at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. He got his PhD in 1992 in Economics at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Since 1993, he is working at the HSE as vice-rector (in 1993-2012) and director of Institute for Industrial and Market Studies (since 1997).

As vice-rector he was responsible for the academic and applied research, financial management and strategic planning. Now additionally to his duties as director of research institute he is responsible for the coordination of Program Committee of HSE April International Conference and coordinates the HSE’s cooperation with Russian and international academic and analytical centers. Since 2006 he is member of Executive Committee of European Association of Comparative Economic Studies (EACES) and since 2015 he is President of Association of Russian Economic Think Tanks (ARETT). In 2012 he was awarded Order of Honor for active participation in elaboration of Strategy-2020 for Russian Government.

He received the Bundeskanzler scholarship from the Humboldt Foundation in 2002-2003 and was visiting researcher at BOFIT in Helsinki (in 1998 and 2010), at Columbia University in New York (in 2012), at Regensburg University (in 2015) and Erasmus Mundus visiting professor at University of Trento (in 2008). He published a number of papers in Comparative Political Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, Economics and Politics, Economic Systems, Post-Soviet Affairs, Journal of Eurasian Studies, Eurasian Geography and Economy and other peer-reviewed international journals.
